WHAT TO EXPECT

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THIS SHOW IS ABOUT THE PROCESS, NOT THE PRODUCT.

This first performance is an informal event, meant to acclimate new students to the concept of being in front of an audience and provide returning students with valuable stage time. Students will also share some of what they have learned during the first 10 weeks of the program. It is not unusual for some students to be nervous or shy in front of a large group of people they do not know-- this is ok! Please be generous with your enthusiasm, smiles and applause. We aim to create a positive, no-pressure environment for all involved, so our students can walk away from this experience feeling great about their accomplishments, and EXCITED for the next time they get to perform!

COSTUMES

  • Costumes for dance students will be distributed in classes as they arrive during the weeks leading up to the show.

  • Please remove costumes from their packaging and hang them upside down to fluff tutus/skirts. If wrinkled, please steam garments (ironing will cause damage). Take note of any accessories included with the costume and store them in a sealable plastic baggie (i.e., Ziploc) to prevent loss.

  • PLEASE REFER TO INSTRUCTIONS DISTRIBUTED WITH EACH COSTUME FOR WHICH TIGHTS, SHOES, UNDEGARMENTS & ACCESSORIES ARE REQUIRED FOR YOUR DANCER.

  • Please do not plan to dress your dancer at the event.

  • ALL PERFORMERS SHOULD ARRIVE DRESSED IN FULL COSTUME, WITH HAIR AND MAKEUP COMPLETELY FINISHED BEFORE LEAVING HOME.

  • Please avoid adorning dancers with any kind of jewelry-- earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, etc. If they break and/or fall off, these items can be distracting at minimum, and hazardous at worst.

HAIR

  • All students should wear their hair pulled back neatly away from their faces. Please refer to instructions distributed with your child's costume.

  • Please use hair products (gel or spray) to arrange hair neatly, and hairpins/hairbands the same color as your dancer's hair for a secure hold.

  • Please avoid hair ornaments that are not included with your child's costume.

MAKEUP

  • Required for female students age 7 and up. Please refer to class handout.

  • Makeup is optional for students age 6 and under.

PHOTO/VIDEO, ETC.

  • You are welcome to take pictures and video without flash (while remaining seated) during the performance.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Please allow enough time to find a parking space before we open for seating.

  • Performers should arrive at 2:15p, accompanied by ONE adult. All others will be asked to wait at the entrance to the building, so please plan accordingly. All students remain backstage for the entirety of the show.

  • Seating will begin at 2:30p. Early arrivals should plan to wait as they would for any other type of performance.

  • Performances begin at 3:00p. There will be no holds or repeat performances for students who are not present when their class takes the stage and no refunds will be provided.
